Is it ok to ask your ex to a dance?

So by the time I'll ask and also when the dance starts we won't be together for about 2 months. We broke up after 9 months over a stupid argument.(Well I broke up with him so he doesn't do to me first, stupid I know) Anyway I want to have a last dance and if it goes right then just to sparks the love again. Its like closer but maybe not. I just scared of the he'll say. Even though he's the closest person to me and a friend.
